Residencies at Gasworks—fully funded by CBAT

CBAT's primary funding program supports a Residency for a Bolivian artist at Gasworks in London. Gasworks is a renowned contemporary visual arts organization that provides unique opportunities for international artists to conduct research and develop new work while based in London. Please refer to the attached document for a detailed 'Gasworks Residency Programme Overview':

The program welcomes artists working in all disciplines, with some limitations based on Gasworks' facilities and location (their studios are relatively small and unsuitable for stone carving and welding). Priority is given to emerging and mid-career artists with high-quality work who have not yet had the chance to work in London.

Application and Selection Process:

Artists can only apply through Gasworks' online "Open Invitation to Apply." This invitation is advertised in CBAT's social media channels, and via curators, writers, scholars, and other contacts of the CBAT. Gasworks assembles a selection committee, which CBAT joins, although Gasworks ultimately makes the final selection.

Upon completion of the selection process, there is ample time for Gasworks and the selected artist to establish connections, secure visas, and initiate the residency's active development and promotion. The selected artist will have access to private studio space and receive pastoral support throughout their stay. Accommodation is provided in a shared residency house near Gasworks studios, where the artist will have a private bedroom and share common areas with three other visiting artists.

Residencies at Delfina Foundation—co-sponsored by CBAT

CBAT has partnered with Fundación RSV and the Delfina Foundation, with additional support from Delfina Foundation’s Network of Latin American & Caribbean Patrons to establish a residency program for Bolivian curators, acknowledging the vital role curators play in shaping and presenting contemporary art.

Delfina Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering artistic exchange and development through residencies, partnerships, and public programming. Each year, they offer four three-month residency seasons, alternating between "open" independent research and "thematic" collective research focused on a specific idea.

Residency participants gain access to a range of activities and support, including guided visits to cultural institutions, opportunities to engage with other artists and professionals, professional development workshops, and a collaborative environment. Financial support includes travel expenses, a living allowance, a materials budget, and accommodation at Delfina Foundation's shared house.

Application and Selection Process:

Applicants for this curatorial residency must be Bolivian nationals based and working in Bolivia with at least five years of curatorial experience. They should demonstrate a strong desire to expand their curatorial practice through research and be able to articulate how this residency will contribute to their professional development.

The selection process will consider the applicant's curatorial experience, their research proposal, and their ability to articulate how the residency will contribute to their professional development. A panel of experts will review applications, the successful candidate will be selected by Delfina Foundation
