CBAT welcomes Bolivian artist Kenia Almaraz Murillo!
On 14th Nov, CBAT was honoured to attend Bolivian artist Kenia Almaraz Murillo’s exhibition ‘Andean Cosmovisión’ preview at Waddington Custot Gallery, which represents Kenia worldwide.
Kenia is part of the traditional Bolivian dance ensemble Caporales Mi Viejo San Simon, Paris-based and at the opening of her exhibition, she introduced a dance performance by London-based members of Caporales Caporales Centralistas San Miguel Londres, as well as dances by Tinkus Puros and Fraternidad Diablada Bolivia UK.
On 10th Oct 2024, CBAT was delighted to attend a breakfast hosted at Gasworks and a viewing of Indonesian artist Riar Rizaldi's exhibition 'Mirage'.

The Cocani Project by Diego Echevers Torrez - 19 June 2024
CBAT was pleased to present, in collaboration with the Anglo-Bolivian Society and Albumen Gallery, the Cocani project by Bolivian photographer Diego Echevers Torrez.

The Cocani are the Aymara coca merchants who settled in Oruro when the city thrived on silver and tin mining. The rich Carnival traditions to which the region, its people, and the mining industry gave rise thrive today. Diego Echevers Torrez has documented these traditions since 2015, creating a series of analogue portraits celebrating the Cocani intergenerational heritage, which is alive yet under threat.
Spring 2024 - Curatorial Residency at Delfina Foundation Co-Sponsored by CBAT
Marisabel Villagomez is a Bolivian-based curator whose work focuses regionally on performative knowledge of the Andes. Since 2018, she has pioneered inSitu, a project that invites artists from the region to explore, collect, catalog, and geolocate contemporary issues surrounding nature and the climate crisis.
This residency is co-sponsored through a partnership between KIOSKO, CBAT, and the Delfina Foundation’s
Network of Latin America & Caribbean Patrons. During her residency at the Delfina Foundation, Marisabel is conducting research at the Royal Botanical Gardens Archive and the Warburg Library as part of her project.

CBAT Co-Sponsors River Claure at The 2024 Venice Biennale
CBAT is proud to co-sponsor Bolivian artist River Claure to participate in the 60th International Art Exhibition, titled Foreigners Everywhere, curated by Adriano Pedrosa and organized by La Biennale di Venezia, from April 20 to November 24, 2024.
River Claure is a visual artist interested in questioning the dominant notions of cultural identity and the importance of photographic images for our notion of reality. CBAT is honoured to support Claure's participation in this important event, which will mark a significant milestone in his career.
CBAT's Autumn Fundraiser 2023
In Nov 2023, we held our third residence program fundraiser, where we were pleased to welcome fashion designers from Bolivia. The occasion highlighted the alpaca use in wool, cloth, looms, and fur while showcasing its extraordinary adaptability. The event included the exhibition of artwork from photographer Javier Molina Barrios and artist Ines Fernandez de Cordova.
The runway showcased collections of designers WaraYana and P. Santiago, highlighting the distinct creativity and craftsmanship characteristic of Bolivian designers. A lovely selection of home and infant items, including coats, ponchos, and accessories made of alpaca, was on display. CBAT is deeply grateful to the designers for donating a generous percentage of their sales during the event and to everyone who attended and supported our cause through our "JustGiving" campaign. We sincerely appreciate the unwavering commitment and solidarity demonstrated for our events.
HOW DO I CONNECT A PROJECT WITH MY PORTFOLIO? - Thursday, 11 DEC 2023
CBAT, in collaboration with Kiosko Galeria, invites Bolivian artists interested in applying for the 2024 Gasworks Residency in London to a talk by Santiago Contreras Soux, winner of the 2022 Residency sponsored by CBAT. The objective is to help postulant artists get closer to their artistic practice and thus visualize which elements of their body of work they select to present a portfolio coherent with their journey and the project submitted to Gasworks.
2024 Residency Open Call for Bolivian Artists
This opportunity will enable an emerging Bolivian artist to undertake a fully-funded residency by CBAT at Gasworks in London, Reino Unido, from 30 Sept to 16 Dec 2024.
Gasworks’ residencies are opportunities for self-led professional development, artistic exchange, and experimentation. Applications can be in English or Spanish until 29 Jan 2024.
Private Collection Viewing of Graciela Rodo Boulanger Paintings
Last Friday, October 12th, 2023, CBAT had the pleasure of hosting a showing of a private collection of paintings by Bolivian artist Graciela Rodo Boulanger. We are deeply grateful to the collection owners for allowing us to highlight this artist and to all who attended.

This Photo Exhibition opened at Fundación Patiño in La Paz, Bolivia, last Thursday, October 5, 2023. Photographs exhibited include winning and outstanding images from the Photo Contest of the same name held in May 2022 in Bolivia. It runs until October 20, 2023. At the opening event, artist Sharon Perez represented CBAT and SDCELAR.

On July 18th, this Photo exhibition opened at Fundación Patiño in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
Photographs exhibited consisted of outstanding images of the photo contest presented in the 'Voces del Chaco' and 'Open Format' categories, as well as the winners of the Series and Individual categories.

On May 4th, 2023, this photo exhibition opened at Fundación Patiño in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Photographs exhibited included winning and outstanding images from the Photo Contest 'Naturaleza, Sociedad and Clima' from the 'Voces del Chaco' category. An evening liven up by dance and music to celebrate the Bolivian Chaco.

"Voces del Chaco" Photography Exhibition at Fundación Patiño, 4 - 25 May
'Voces del Chaco' seeks to make visible the local human perspectives of the Bolivian Chaco, providing a space for self-representation for those who inhabit the region and for the Chaco diaspora. The actors of these photographs represent a local and personal
vision of the experience of inhabiting the environment and belonging to the Chaco communities.' Professionals or self-taught, these photographers express their message through interesting captures that communicate both the natural and cultural wealth of the area, as well as the struggles and challenges that its inhabitants face today.
CBAT's Piano Fundraiser 2022
In Nov 2022, CBAT had the privilege to welcome our Bolivian and highly talented pianist José Navarro Silberstein, who delighted the audience with a repertoire of musical pieces by Domenico Scarlatti, Carl Philipp, Emmanuel Bach, Franz Liszt, Robert Schumann, Boquerón, and Villla-Lobos.

CBAT at BFI London Film Festival - UK premiere of UTAMA
On October 8th, members of CBAT proudly attended the UK premiere of the Bolivian film Utama, a Sundance festival winner. The film, by Bolivian film director Alejandro Loayza Grisi, was presented at ICA as part of the BFI London Film Festival 2022. Its premier in UK & Ireland cinemas will be on November 11th.
Contemporary Photo Exhibition at Fundación Patiño
On Oct 5th the contemporary photo exposition "NATURALEZA, SOCIEDAD Y CLIMA" opened at Espacio Fundación Patiño centre in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Photographs exhibited were based on winning and outstanding images of our photo contest in the "open format" category.

Awards Ceremony and Exhibition Opening
On 26th August, the winning photographers of the NATURALEZA, SOCIEDAD Y CLIMA photo contest received their prizes and, along with other contestants, selected to present the best images of the photo competition, partook in the opening of the photography exhibition of the same name at ARTE EN LA PLAZA at Manzana 1's Art Space.

CBAT congratulates winners: Andrés Unterladstaetter (series), Marcelo Perez del Carpio (individual), Iván Cáceres (open format), as well as Vladimir Fernandez (British Museum SDCELAR-Voces del Chaco) and Isabel Guarayo along with Alex Pancho Rojas (Sub22).The contest fulfilled the objective of capturing photographs that tell stories and sho w the causes and consequences of environmental problems and what contributes to their mitigation. At the same time, CBAT hopes to elevate the talent of these Bolivian photographers to platforms in the UK and worldwide.
Sharon Perez Welcomed @ Gasworks
Last Saturday, CBAT and Gasworks welcomed Afro-Bolivian artist Sharon Perez with a traditional Bolivian salteñada at the Gasworks establishment with guests from the British and Bolivian communities. Sharon talked about her roots, inspiration, and personal perspective as an artist.
She also gave an overview of her art residency work at the British Museum sponsored by SDCELAR.

Photography Contest Open Call
“NATURE, SOCIETY AND CLIMATE”
Given the importance of making the issue of Climate Change visible through photographic art, CBAT and Noel Kempff Mercado Foundation, in alliance with Manzana 1 Espacio de Arte are launching this photography contest at a national level that aims to capture photos that communicate, tell stories, showing both the causes and consequences of this problem and what contributes to climate mitigation.
