RESIDENCIES AT GASWORKS (LONDON) SPONSORED BY CBAT

Photography: Ioana Marinescu

CBAT's primary funding programme is for an art residency of a Bolivian artist at Gasworks (London), a prestigious contemporary visual art org. that offers rare opportunities for international artists to research and develop new work while in London.  Please have a look at the attached document with a 'Gasworks Residency Programme Overview':

The programme is open to artists working in all disciplines subject to some constraints dictated by Gaswork’s buildings and location (their studios are fairly small and not suited to stone carving and welding). Priority will be given to emerging and mid-career artists with high-quality work who have not as yet had the opportunity to work in London.

Selection Process:

Artists are recruited through an 'Open Invitation to Apply' which is advertised in local and national newspapers in Bolivia, through Kiosko (member of Triangle Network), as well as through curators, writers, scholars, and other contacts of the Trust. Gasworks sets up a selection committee including a range of perspectives and relevant expertise. The Trust joins the committee but Gasworks makes the final selection.

The selection process is completed by March providing enough time for Gasworks and the artist to establish connections, Visa applications and to begin active development and promotion of the residency.  The selected artist will be provided with private studio facilities and pastoral support during the residence. The accommodation is a shared residency house near Gasworks studios where the artist will have a private bedroom and share the common areas with three other visiting artists.
